It's fish fry time

The Lenten season begins and area churches and organizations will sponsor always-popular fish frys.

The following events have been submitted to The Daily Courier.

Immaculate Conception R.C. ChurchImmaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church will conduct a takeout-only fish dinner 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 22. Cost is $15.

Baked or fried fish dinners will include macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, roll and cake.

Food will be distributed from the social hall at 148 E. Crawford Ave., Connellsville.

Orders will be accepted after 9 a.m. by calling 724-628-9795.

Connellsville Township VFDConnellsville Township Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor fish frys Feb. 22, 24, March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and April 7.

Lunch will be available 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner 4 to 7 p.m.

Meals — $13 apiece — will feature a fish sandwich with macaroni and cheese or french fries, cole slaw and dessert. Fish dinners are also available for $13.

Chicken strips with macaroni and cheese or french fries, cole slaw and dessert are available for $13. Preorders and delivery are available by calling 724-628-0900.

St. Pius X ParishSt. Pius X Parish will sell dine-in or take-out dinners 4 to 7 p.m. Fridays during Lent, except Good Friday from Feb. 24 through March 31 in the social hall at 222 Summit St., Mt. Pleasant and will feature baked or fried fish, green beans, coleslaw and breadstick along with cabbage and noodles on Feb. 24 and March 10 and 24. Meals will include pierogies March 3, 17 and 31.

Meals include dessert and beverage.

A kids’ menu will feature baked or fried fish served with cabbage and noodles or pierogi — on the same schedule as adult meals — green beans, applesauce and breadstick The cost is $8.

Baked and fried fish sandwiches with coleslaw, dessert and beverage will be available each week for $10.

A pasta special featuring gnocchi, green beans, coleslaw and breadstick will be available March 24 for $15.

Other menu items will be available that day. All food is cash only.

St. John the Baptist, St. JosephThe partner parishes of St. John the Baptist and St. Joseph annual fish fry will begin 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 22 at St. John’s School Hall and continue 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Friday until March 31, excluding Good Friday.

Fish sandwiches and fish dinners, baked or fried, will be available.

Clinton Church of GodFish frys are scheduled 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 24, March 10 and 24 in Clinton Church of God fellowship hall, 405 Buchanan Road, Normalville. Meals — $13 a piece — feature a fish sandwich, two sides from a list of macaroni and cheese, cabbage and noodles, coleslaw, green beans and pierogies.

Sandwiches are available for $10.

Norvelt VFDNorvelt Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Lenten fish fry Ash Wednesday and every Friday during Lent from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Cash only.

The menu includes hand-breaded cod served on bun, $11; breaded deep-fried shrimp, $8; cole slaw, $1; french fries, $4; macaroni and cheese, $4; pierogies, four for $3.

Hecla VFDHecla Volunteer Fire Department will hold a fish fry Ash Wednesday and every Friday during Lent, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

St. John the Baptist, PerryopolisSt. John the Baptist Church, 3332 Pittsburgh Road, Perryopolis will hold a special dinner 4 to 6 p.m. Ash Wednesday. It will hold fish fry 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays during Lent.

It is dine in or takeout.

On the menu for Ash Wednesday is homemade cheese ravioli dinner. Fridays during Lent, baked or fried fish, pierogi, ravioli and soup will be available.

Mt. Pleasant VFWVFW Post 3368 Social Hall, 416 W. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, fish frys will start Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22 and run every Friday through April 7 from noon to 7 p.m. Hours are subject to change. Cost is $12 for dinner that includes a sandwich, fries and coleslaw.

Sandwich only is $10 with macaroni and cheese costing $3; french fries, $2; and coleslaw, $1.

Dunbar VFDThe Dunbar Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Lenten Fish Fry.

It will begin on Ash Wednesday and run 3 to 7 p.m. every Friday through April 7.Call-in orders available.
